Steam Deck Dev Kits Now Being Sent Out To Developers

In a post on the official Steam website, dev-kits are now heading out to those who need to test games on the upcoming Steam Deck. The post also says that dev-kits have been limited, but that they allow studios and partners to make sure their games are compatible with the handheld system. In another post on the Steam documentation page, it states that the development kits are essentially the same as the ones customers will be getting upon release, but will be slightly different cosmetically....

Steam Deck Owner Uses The Device To Develop A Game

A recent tweet from Valve designer Lawrence Yang pointed out that YouTuber Tranasus has used the Steam Deck to not only create a very simple game using the device, but has added it to their Steam library. While what they actually created is very basic, being just a simple shape moving around an empty plain, the whole idea behind the experiment was to show that it’s possible to use just the system to develop and upload games....

Steam Says It S Not Disabling Older Versions Of Games

A week ago, it was spotted in the beta client that Steam may disable older iterations of titles going forward. Many in the community were concerned about this, especially those who are from the speedrunning community. Speedrunners often use older versions of games for certain runs, but without access to these in the future, those specific runs would effectively come to an end. This was also an issue for those who simply wished to preserve the opportunity to roll back their games to previous updates....

Steam User Count Has Declined Since January

There are a few different reasons that could amount to the lower user numbers of the past few months. Steam always peaks during January and then sees a user drop during the Summer, though this year has nearly doubled last year’s 9% decline. Another possible explanation could be the fall of such popular titles as Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, as Twitter user Steam Spy pointed out. While still one of the hottest titles on Steam, the game simply doesn’t break records like it used to, being so popular that it passed up DOTA 2 and helped set new Steam User records....

“Today our office was able to view surveillance video showing multiple angles of the events that led to the arrest of Steelers coach Joey Porter,” the office said in a statement. “Following that review it is the position of the office that the only charges supported by the video are summary disorderly conduct and summary public drunkenness. Stardew Valley Mysteries That Are Still Unsolved In 2021

It’s important to remember that part of the charm of a game like Stardew Valley is that not all mysteries will have definite answers. For example, Abigail’s true parentage is a well-documented mystery referenced in multiple lines of dialogue. The hints at deeper and hidden connections between various villagers help to flesh out the characters in Pelican Town and make the game all the more immersive and engaging. However, some of the game’s mysteries have little to no explanation, leaving the fans to wonder and imagine....

Stardew Valley S George Is Much Needed Representation For Older Folks In Videogames

While George isn’t always the most generous villager in town, he is a multi-faceted, multi-layered character that takes time to befriend because the player has to earn his trust. In many video games, NPCs are either ageless or around the same age as the player character, who is typically very young. When older characters are in games, they can frequently be the victims of villainy, simple quest-givers, or the protagonist’s family members with no agency of their own....

Starfield News Not Coming Until 2021

Bethesda has a pedigree for its expansive action role-playing games such as the Fallout and Elders Scrolls series. When the developer teased Starfield at E3 2018 – its first new IP in more than two decades – fans hoped that they might get to play the game by the end of 2020. The possibility seemed likely at the time. Bethesda was wrapping up development on Fallout 76 and still had two entire years to focus on Starfield....

Starfield Protagonist Won T Be A Voiced Character

One of the features that Bethesda revealed at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase was Starfield’s character creation tools. Like Bethesda’s other big open world RPGs, Starfield players will be able to create their own character from scratch. However, Bethesda didn’t reveal if the Starfield protagonist would be voiced or not. Most of Bethesda’s games do not feature voiced protagonists, though the exception to that rule is Fallout 4....

Starfield S Space Ships May Be A Double Edged Sword

One of the most intriguing aspects that the recent glimpses of Starfield highlighted was its space flight and the role that ships will play in the game. This was an element that fans have long been anticipating, and it has caused a fair bit of conversation among players. While Starfield has recently shown off lots of exciting elements, some of them have caused some concerns. The game’s ship customization and freedom of traversal may seem great, but a few fans are worried that the flight mechanics still seem a little shaky....

Starr Gazing Horsemen Cometh

Turned out it wasn’t all roses in Louisville. I found the horse crowd a wee bit stuffy. I was distinctly underdressed for the occasion and made painfully aware of it. And I was mystified by why anyone would clog up a perfectly good glass of bourbon with sugar and leaves. But the good far outweighed the bad. Derby week had a laisser les bon temps rouler feel, a cross between New Orleans North and Woodstock South....

Today, mention the game on the streets here and you’ll likely get a lot of blank stares. And then every conceivable guess from the Patriots-Vikings clash this weekend to one of the longstanding Turkey Day high-school rivalries, like Boston Latin versus Boston English. Harvard-Yale may no longer rule this roost (though perhaps still the world), but, for the 119th time since the football rivalry began in 1875, the Ivy elites will contest The Game this Saturday....

Starr Gazing Why The Raiders Will Win

Never have I thrilled to a victory for another town’s teams, let alone a New York team, like I did for Joe Namath’s Jets in Super Bowl III. And again the next year when Kansas City, still a double-digit underdog courtesy of the NFL skeptics, poleaxed Minnesota. That victory proved once and for all that we were worthy of inclusion in the big league. We weren’t second-tier cities any longer....
