Because of NBC’s Olympic coverage, the road-course race will be carried on USA Network instead of NBC or NBCSN. The race is schedule to go green at 2:49 p.m.

Carl Edwards will start on the pole for the 90-lap race alongside Kyle Larson. Tony Stewart, who won the June road-course race at Sonoma, starts third. Stewart has a record five wins at Watkins Glen.

There are just five races remaining before the Chase for the Sprint Cup. So far, 12 different drivers have become Chase eligible by winning a race, including rookie Chris Buescher, who won last week at Watkins Glen. Buescher must crack the top 30 in points, however, to qualify for the playoffs. He is 31st, six points out of 30th, and starts 25th at Watkins Glen.
