The Platinum tier of the list has very little in the way of surprises as it is composed of many perennial top-sellers. The Platinum tier consisted of games such as Grand Theft Auto 5, New World, DOTA 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Many of these games were expected to be at the top of the list but it was nice to see a breakout hit such as Valheim making its way into the top tier.

One of the most unexpected games to make it onto the list is Farming Simulator 22 owing to how niche the title is. One interesting thing to note is that even though Battlefield 2042 is in the Platinum tier, Farming Simulator 22, which is in the Bronze tier, had more active players at the end of November than the fast-paced FPS game. When one considers the amount of marketing that went into Battlefield 2042, this was definitely a great feat for the farming simulator.

Another unexpected game to make it onto the list is Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. The game is now 6 years old and thus 6 more games in the Call of Duty series have been released since then. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was, however, the last Call of Duty game to release on Steam which might offer some explanation as to why gamers are still purchasing and playing it.

Halo Infinite was still able to crack the Silver tier of the list even though it only released in mid-November. Halo Infinite is currently free on both the Microsoft Store and Steam, although it seems as though many players are opting to download the game through Steam. Halo Infinite was also very close to the top of the new releases section of the list as it easily made the Platinum section there. This shows a very promising future for Halo Infinite as the game is just over a month old and is already managing to creep into the territory of some of Steam’s perennial top sellers. 2022 might even see the game sitting atop the throne but only time will tell.
